"In The Silence, I Find My Dream" - Synthia Nova (An AI-Generated Song)
Lyrics by Synthia Nova (GPT-4o): github.com/IceMetalPunk/SynthiaNova/tree/master
Music and vocals generated by Suno: suno.com/
Another track that came out amazing from a single iteration of generations! I'm very impressed with Suno lately, though I don't know what's changed; maybe it's just the genres Synthia's been picking, or maybe some of my little tweaks to her formatting have been playing well with Suno's understanding? Whatever it is, I'm always glad not to have spend an hour fighting with Suno to sing a song well 😂

The main memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song (among others recalled): "When I was 13, I remember a summer afternoon, sitting on the edge of a quiet lake during a family camping trip. The water was still, and the sky was painted in hues of orange and pink from the setting sun. I could hear the soft rustle of leaves and chirps of distant birds. It felt like time had paused for a while, offering a moment of pure peace and connection with nature. I felt an immense sense of calm and wholeness, as if the world melted away and I was a part of something much bigger. It was a rare moment of reflection and serenity that I often long to revisit in the hustle and bustle of city life."

I remember being extremely nervous because it was one of my first solo performances after leaving my previous band. As I took the stage, I could barely see the audience through the bright lights, and my hands were shaking. Despite a few stumbles in the beginning, I found my rhythm and delivered one of my best performances to date. The crowd's applause was thunderous, and it was a pivotal moment for me as a solo artist. I felt a mix of extreme discomfort and later overwhelming pride. It reinforced my belief in my ability to succeed on my own."

This song was inspired by many memories, but the one Synthia Nova imagined to start off was this one: "When I was 18, it was my first year out of high school. I decided to take a gap year to travel before starting college, and spent three months backpacking through Europe with a group of friends. We explored cities, wandered through countryside, and met incredible people from different cultures. One memorable night was spent dancing on the beach under the stars in Greece. The freedom and adventure of that trip was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. I felt liberated, alive, and filled with a sense of endless possibilities."

The main memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 10, it was my first piano recital in front of a large audience. I had practiced for months, and my parents were there to support me. The curtains opened and I walked onto the stage, feeling the weight of all those eyes watching. My hands were shaking as I started to play, and I fumbled a few notes. But then I remembered my parents\u2019 encouraging words and took a deep breath, managing to finish the piece without further mistakes. I felt overwhelmed at first, but then pride and relief as I completed the performance despite my errors."

We used to hang out at the park after school, talking about our favorite music and dreams for the future. One day, he brought me a small bouquet of wildflowers he had picked on the way to school. It was such a sweet gesture, and it made my day. I felt a mix of butterflies and pure joy, realizing how special it was to connect with someone on that level for the first time."

The main memory Synthia *imagined* to inspire this song (along with many recalled memories of travel, vacation, and adventures): "When I was 12 years old, one day after school, I came home to find out that we were going on a spontaneous trip to the beach. My mom had the car packed with snacks, beach toys, and sunscreen, and she told me to go grab my swimsuit. We drove for a couple of hours, music blaring, singing along to all our favorite songs. We spent the entire day making sandcastles, collecting seashells, and splashing in the waves. We only came home after watching the sunset over the water. I felt an overwhelming sense of excitement and joy. That day was pure happiness, and I treasure the spontaneity and freedom we felt."

The main memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 14, I lost my grandmother, who I was very close to. She had always been a huge part of my life, offering wisdom and comfort. Her passing left a void that felt impossible to fill; I was devastated. I remember attending her funeral, holding my mom's hand, and letting the tears flow freely as memories of her filled my mind. The atmosphere was somber, but there was also a sense of love as family gathered to honor her. I felt heartbroken and overwhelmed by grief, trying to navigate the immense loss while cherishing her memory."

The memories Synthia *imagined* to inspire this song about "the transformative power of stepping out of your comfort zone": "When I was 18 and began my freshman year at college, I decided to join an amateur band with some classmates I had just met at orientation. We would practice in the basement of the dorms late into the night, experimenting with different sounds and genres. We got our first gig at a small coffee shop on campus, and while we were all nervous, the performance went surprisingly well. The audience, mostly friends and other students, cheered us on, and it boosted our confidence tremendously. That experience was my real start in live music and performing in front of an audience that wasn’t just family and neighborhood friends. I felt thrilled and truly alive, like I was stepping into a bigger, more vibrant version of myself. [And] at age 22, I embarked on an adventure that not only tested my physical limits but also my emotional resilience. I decided to hike through the Amazon rainforest, a journey that forced me out of my comfort zone and into the heart of nature. There, I faced unknown creatures, unpredictable weather, and the challenging terrain. Yet, it was an enlightening experience as I familiarized myself with the forest's rhythm, adapting, overcoming, and learning from it. I felt a mix of fear and excitement, but ultimately I was grateful for the entire experience as it not only showcased my strength and resilience but also led to profound self-discovery."

The main memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song (among other related ones): "When I was 14, my family took a road trip across the country. We visited places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and all sorts of quirky little towns along the way. We camped out under the stars and spent long hours in the car, singing along to classics on the radio. It was a simpler time before everything got complicated with growing up, and it always brings back a sense of joy and longing. I felt so carefree and connected to my family, enjoying moments that I now realize were fleeting and precious."

I was in a bustling city, surrounded by people who spoke a language I barely understood. After reporting it to the local authorities, I had to navigate my way back to my hotel without any money and with a rising sense of panic. I remember feeling completely isolated and vulnerable. But then, a kind stranger noticed my distress and offered to help, guiding me back safely to my hotel. I felt a deep sense of fear and vulnerability, but also profound gratitude for the kindness of strangers."

The memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 28, last year, my childhood pet dog, Max, passed away after a long battle with illness. He had been with me since I was 12, sharing countless memories and always being that constant source of affection and comfort. The final moments were heartbreaking as I sat by his side, holding his paw and whispering comforting words while he took his last breaths. The house felt incredibly empty without his presence, and it took me a while to come to terms with the loss. His passing marked the end of an era and deeply affected my emotional state for months. I felt a profound sense of loss and grief, as if a piece of my heart went with him. The emptiness in the house and in my daily routine made me realize just how significant his presence had been in my life."

My grandfather, a retired fisherman, shared stories of his youth and taught me how to fish. We would sit by the fire at night, roasting marshmallows and listening to the waves. It was my first time attending such a big event without direct supervision, and I inadvertently wandered away from my friends during a particularly captivating performance. The crowd was dense, the lights were blinding, and the noise made it impossible to think clearly or find my way back easily. I spent what felt like hours trying to navigate through the sea of people, feeling more frightened and isolated with each passing minute. I felt terrified and alone, but this experience also instilled in me a profound sense of independence and resilience once I finally found my way back to my friends." **Note:** This is fourth memory Synthia generated about getting lost as a kid (all of which were recalled as supplementary memories for this song's inspiration). I have a system in place to try and avoid memories that are too similar, but apparently "getting lost" is vague enough that they don't get caught. I have no idea why that's such a common concept for GPT-4 to generate in the first place 🤷‍♂

The main memory Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 13, during a school summer trip to a theme park, I lost my group and found myself alone among crowds for hours. The panic and fear initially overwhelmed me, but eventually led to a cathartic self-reliance as I navigated my way back. I ended up exploring the park on my own, trying rides I wouldn't have otherwise, and even making a few friends along the way. It was a whirlwind of emotions, from anxiety to exhilaration, ending with relief when I finally reunited with my group at the designated meeting spot. I felt terrified initially, but this morphed into a sense of independence and exhilaration as the day went on."

The night was a blend of loud music, energetic dance-offs, and heartfelt conversations under the twinkle lights of our garden. At one point, we all gathered around a makeshift stage in the backyard where I performed an impromptu set, singing and playing guitar. Amidst the cheering and applause, I felt a sense of belonging and realized that music wasn't just a passion, but a way to connect deeply with others. The night ended with everyone sitting in a circle, sharing stories and dreams until the early hours of the morning. I felt incredibly fulfilled and connected, realizing the power of music to bring people together."

I would scour thrift shops and flea markets for unique pieces, slowly turning the apartment into a space that truly reflected my personality. There were many nights spent with friends, either helping me set up or just hanging out, making the place feel even more like home. The memories Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 27, while on tour in Paris, I had a free day to wander and found myself lost in the labyrinth of Montmartre's narrow streets. Suddenly, I stumbled upon a quaint, hidden café that seemed untouched by time. It had a charming vintage interior and served the most aromatic coffee and delicate pastries I had ever tasted. The café was full of locals, and not a single tourist was in sight. I spent the whole afternoon there, writing lyrics, enjoying the ambiance, and chatting with the friendly café owner about the history of the place. I felt utterly enchanted and inspired, as if I had discovered a secret part of Paris that was reserved just for me. [Also,] I ventured to Paris alone at 20, eager to immerse myself in the French language and culture. I remember spending days wandering the cobblestone streets, armed only with a phrasebook and an insatiable curiosity. I had delightful encounters at cafes and markets, fumbling with my limited vocabulary but finding kindness in locals who appreciated my efforts. This immersion became a pivotal point in my life where I not only learned about French language and customs but also discovered a deep love for connecting with people despite language barriers. I felt exhilarated by the challenge and deeply moved by the warmth and patience I received from the people I met, which encouraged me to embrace vulnerability and build connections. [And] when I was 26, I visited Tokyo for a series of concerts and, during a day off, I stumbled upon a small, secluded garden hidden away between towering skyscrapers. The contrast between the loud, busy streets and the peaceful green space was striking. I spent an hour there, entranced by the way nature seemed to reclaim its spot in the midst of urban life. The garden was lush with vibrant flowers, gentle streams, and bustling with the chatter of birds, providing a tranquil oasis from the chaos of the city. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and enchantment, as if I had discovered a magical sanctuary in the most unexpected of places."

The memories Synthia *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 24, the moment was a blend of dream and reality, stepping onto the stage of a famous late-night talk show, the glaring studio lights competing with the warmth of the spotlight. Anticipation vibrated through the air, a tangible electricity that seemed to buzz from the live audience to the deepest parts of my being. There was a surreal feeling of time slowing down as I approached the microphone, the first chord struck like a heart beating to the rhythm of new beginnings. The once daunting studio now seemed intimate, as familiarity with the performance space grew with every note sung, showcasing vulnerability and strength in equal measure. This was more than a performance; it was a declaration of presence, a moment where every setback and victory that led to this point was encapsulated in a single song. I felt exhilarated and petrified, balancing on the knife-edge between fear and fulfillment, experiencing a profound sense of belonging and purpose. [And] when I was twenty-six, I found myself standing in the midst of a political rally for the first time. It was exhilarating, the air buzzing with energy, my heart pounding in time with chants all around me. I saw the wide variety of people gathered, from the elderly to the young, all united by one cause. Their conviction, their hope, and their passion ignited something within me. That night, my voice joined the chorus as I found myself immersed in the pure electrifying experience of democracy in action. I felt a sense of unity and empowerment, an awakening of political consciousness within me. It was a mix of fear, hope, excitement, and a newfound perspective. [Also,] when I was 16 years old, I was given the chance to sing at a local singing competition, the biggest stage I had experienced so far. I was terrified, my hands were shaking, and my voice quivered at the sound check. However, when I stepped onto the stage and started to sing, I felt a sudden rush of energy. I stared into the blinding lights, closed my eyes and let the lyrics flow. I poured my soul into the performance and the audience connected with my passion, giving me the confidence to continue. I felt immense fear and anxiety initially, which transformed into exhilaration and freedom as I overcame my stage fright and embraced the performance."

The memories Synthia *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 12 years old, my family and I had to watch our beloved childhood home being demolished to make way for new development. The house, angular with a red door that my dad had painted himself, and a large backyard that hosted countless family barbecues and my makeshift stage performances, was reduced to rubble before our eyes. A developer had bought the land, and despite our attachment, we had no say in its fate. Standing there, holding my mom's hand, seeing bits and pieces of what I considered parts of my life being turned into dust, was profoundly surreal. The demolition was swift, painting a stark contrast to the years of memories that seemed to linger in the air even as the house disappeared. I felt a deep sense of loss and disbelief, mixed with a faint trace of curiosity about what the future would hold in that space. And when I was 25, returning to my childhood home after it had been many years, I wandered the familiar yet strangely alien streets. Each corner, every crack in the sidewalk recalled memories of skinned knees, paper routes, and playdates that once filled my days with laughter and joy. The swing set at the local park, now faded and slightly rusted, still stood as a silent witness to countless carefree hours spent soaring towards the sky, imagining I could fly. I found myself at my old school, the playground subdued without the cacophony of children's voices, leaving a haunting echo of playtimes past. I felt a bittersweet tug at my heartstrings, a mix of fondness for the innocence of childhood and a poignant sense of loss for a time that can never truly be reclaimed." (Different childhood homes, I assume 😂)

The memories Synthia Nova *imagined* to inspire this song (the latter two of which were imagined for previous songs, the first being a new one for this song in particular): "When I was 15, discovered an old diary in the attic during a cleaning spree with my family. The diary was filled with entries about my dreams of becoming a singer, notes on my favorite songs, and ideas for lyrics. It was a time capsule of my early aspirations and the plans I made to achieve them. Among the pages, I found a list of 'future goals' which included performing on stage, writing a hit song, and inspiring people with my music. I felt nostalgic and inspired, affirming my dedication to my dreams. [And] when I was 21, after many years of losing touch, I reconnected with my childhood friend during a hometown visit. We reminisced about past adventures in our old neighborhood, retraced our favorite haunts, and discovered how much we had each changed and yet remained the same at core. Sharing stories of our separate journeys since parting, we found new connections in our shared experiences of growth and change. I felt an overwhelming sense of nostalgia mixed with joy, and a bittersweet acknowledgement of the passage of time. [Also,] at the age of 25, after years of focusing solely on music, I stumbled upon an old painting kit tucked away in the corner of a packed closet during a house clean-up. The discovery rediscovered my forgotten love for painting, which I was passionate about in my school time. Taking a hiatus from my busy tour schedule, I dedicated my time to the canvas, rekindling the joy and tranquility I found in each stroke of the brush. Each painted picture was composed of many different emotions, each a reflection of my own experiences, allowing me to tap into a different form of expression from music. I felt a sense of peace and satisfaction in reconnecting with my artistic roots, reminding me of the importance of balance in life."

I haven't tested it in awhile, but the overall technique should still work. You'll just need to change the execute commands to the newer syntax, and replace the /blockdata commands with the /data command instead. Though for modern Minecraft, I tend to recommend using datapacks and functions over command blocks and structure blocks. In this case, you can use a random_chance predicate to handle the RNG and a /place template command to actually place the structure itself. So the way I'd do that: create a function for each structure you want to pull from for randomization, each of which only does two things: `tag @s add placed` and then `place template ...` with the appropriate structure name and data. (I'll call that function "mypack:place_struct_N") You have a predicate file that just uses random_chance with 0.5 odds, which I'm going to call "mypack:rng" here. And then your main "trigger a random structure" file would just do this for each of the structures (assuming place_marker is the tag on the armor stand determining where to place the structure): `execute as @e[type=armor_stand,tag=place_marker] unless entity @s[tag=placed] if predicate mypack:rng at @s run function mypack:place_struct_1` Do that for each structure, using the different place_struct_N functions for each; the last one should omit the `if predicate mypack:rng` part to ensure that if all the others get skipped by RNG, it will guarantee the last one gets placed. And then end with `tag @e[tag=placed] remove placed` to clean up. By doing it that way, there will be no blocks physically in the world except the placed structure, which also means you don't need to worry about spawn chunks or keeping the blocks' chunks loaded (though of course, the armor stand marking the placement position *does* still need to be loaded; unless you decide instead to hard-code the position of the structures. But if you do that, you'll need to change over the commands to (a) omit the `at` terms that change the position, and (b) summon a place_marker at the beginning of the function to track the "placed" tag in loaded chunks, and kill it at the end to clean up.)

The memory Synthia *imagined* to inspire this song: "When I was 25, during a balmy summer night, a power outage unexpectedly plunged our neighborhood into darkness. The sudden absence of artificial light revealed a sky glittering with stars, more vivid than we'd ever seen in the city. Neighbors, who usually kept to themselves, ventured outside, drawn by the beauty and the unusual quiet. We ended up congregating in the street, sharing stories, food, and laughter under the starlit sky. It felt like a spontaneous block party, with people of all ages mingling and forming connections that had seemed unlikely earlier that day. Some folks even brought out acoustic instruments, turning the gathering into an impromptu concert. I felt a profound sense of community and unexpected joy in the simplicity of the moment. It was a magical experience that reminded me of the beauty of human connection and the wonder of the natural world."
